AAU Faculty of Agriculture and Community Science Recruitment – Eligibility Criteria

1. Eligibility Criteria for Associate Professor & Equivalent Posts

• Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or a relevant field.
  • Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks or a CGPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale (or 7.00 on a 10-point scale) in the relevant discipline.
  • Ph.D. degree in the concerned discipline (unless specified otherwise).
• Pay Scale: Rs. 1,31,400 – Rs. 2,17,100 (Level 13 A in Pay Matrix, 7th Pay Commission)
• Age Limit: Maximum 47 years as on 01.01.2025 (Relaxable for in-service candidates)
• Experience:
  • At least 8 years of experience in teaching, research, or extension (excluding the Ph.D. period) as a Junior Scientist, Assistant Professor, or equivalent.
• Publications:
  • Minimum of 5 publications (e.g., research papers, book chapters, reviews, or monographs) during the tenure as a Junior Scientist or equivalent.
• API Score:
  • A minimum score of 49 out of 70 on the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) for direct recruitment.

2. Eligibility Criteria for Assistant Professor & Equivalent (Other than Food Technology)

• Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Community Science, or Veterinary Science (relevant to the post).
  • For Sericulture, a Bachelor’s degree in Sericulture or Agriculture is required.
  • Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks or a CGPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale (or 7.00 on a 10-point scale) in the relevant discipline.
    • Note: For other grading scales, MCGPA will be calculated using the formula:
      MCGPA = 3 + 0.667 × (Scale Point – 4)
• Pay Scale: Rs. 57,700 – Rs. 1,82,400 (Level 10 in Pay Matrix, 7th Pay Commission)
• Age Limit:
  • Maximum age 38 years as of 01.01.2025 (relaxable for permanent in-service candidates as per AAU and Govt. of Assam norms).
• National Eligibility Test (NET):
  • NET qualification is required, except for disciplines where NET is not conducted.
  • NET is waived for candidates with a Ph.D. degree, provided the degree follows the UGC credit system and the candidate has at least two publications with a NAAS rating of 4 or more.
• API Score:
  • Minimum 48 out of 80 for General and 44 out of 80 for SC/ST, as per the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS).

3. Eligibility Criteria for Assistant Professor & Equivalent (Food Technology)

• Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or an equivalent degree relevant to the post.
  • Master’s Degree in Food Technology, Food Science & Technology, Food Engineering, Dairy Technology, Post Harvest Technology, Agricultural Process Engineering, or equivalent disciplines.
  • A minimum of 55% marks or a CGPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale (or 7.00 on a 10-point scale) at the Master’s level.
    • Note: For other grading scales, the MCGPA will be calculated using the formula:
      MCGPA = 3 + 0.667 × (Scale Point – 4).
      For example:
      • For a 4-point scale: MCGPA = 3.00.
      • For a 10-point scale: MCGPA = 7.00.
• National Eligibility Test (NET):
  • NET is required, except for disciplines where NET is not conducted.
  • NET is waived for candidates with a Ph.D. degree, provided it follows the UGC credit system, and the candidate has at least two publications with a NAAS rating of 4 or more.
• API Score:
  • A minimum score of 48 out of 80 for General candidates and 44 out of 80 for SC/ST candidates, as per the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), to be eligible for the interview.

• In-Service Candidates: Those currently employed in any department or organization should submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective employers.
• General Instructions:
  • Age Relaxation: As per Assam Government norms for reserved categories.
  • Eligibility: Only permanent residents of Assam are eligible for Assistant Professor posts as per AAU’s service regulations.
